This is my desire
To honour you
Lord with all my heart
I worship you
All I have within me
I give you praise
All that I adore is in you

Lord, I give you my heart
I give you my soul
I live for you alone
Every breath that I take
Every moment I'm awake
Lord, have your way in me.

Ming and I at his 21st birthday Posted by Hello

weekend in T.O

Got in to T.O sat afternoon around 2ish, had lunch with my parents, went to Mitchells to pick up the women's cell book for myself and Vicky, then on to dinner for Ming's birthday. *smilez* It was a great night, except I personally think Alice Fazooli's is pretty expensive. I had a very yummy Penne alla Vodka though! hm..Yummy. I find that I really enjoy having a bit of vodka mixed into my creme sauce. Anyone would look it, it gives that zang to the sauce..Plus its soo good! ming ended up drinking a few shots last night all in celebration of his 21st birthday..hehe, his sister gave him one w/ tequila and tabasco sauce. eekk! spicy!

Although, I must admit I "knew" people at the birthday bash, it turns out we had 2 tables..and I was at the table where I didn't know anyone. That in itself felt a bit odd, but I quickly fixed that by actually introducing myself to Ming's friends (who turned out to be from his high school and the zoo where he worked) So, while sitting there dallying through the surface conversations that we all seem to have when meeting new people...Victor arrived and saved my evening. Not that I don't enjoy talking to new people, but simply put I really don't know them that well so it was kinda hard. You see, in these types of conversations you have to search out that bit of commonality that you and the other person have, and if you don't have anything in common.. you'll end up having a nice little evening of surface talking where one spends all evening talking about the food, servers, atmosphere, events that occur etc...

Nevertheless, it was good to catch up with Victor. I haven't seen this guy for soo long it seems, save my birthday lunch last month. Sometimes, I feel like I'm in this rush to keep up with everything and everyone..and in the end, I find that I haven't even caught up with anyone. Why is it soo difficult to keep in contact with everyone once we hit university? You might think it'll get easier, but apparantly not so. Once you're out of uni, you land upon the job market...where, if by chance you end up in the same province you grew up in, things should be okay..if not, you're off on your own. Making ends meet, and then trying to catch up with people will be even more difficult. Thinking about this, just makes it sound depressing or sad....perhaps its time to talk about something else..

I'm still so happy for my friend Kevin after finding out yesterday that he does believe that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Saviour. *smilez* aww..my 'fifth rommie' from first year. haha, he was always over at our place. First year in itself created a bunch of awesome memories. It feels like such a short time ago, but in reality we're already in our third year! Which in a way, makes me all the more want to make sure i'm getting everythign that i can out of university. *sigh* but i just don't seem to have enough time!

Hm..today, after class I made doreen go see the doctor since she's been putting it off for quite a while. She sprained her ankle on monday, and by today it was starting to get a lot more swollen! eekk! Anywayz, I'm glad she went, but she can't go with us to hip hop anymore until her ankle heals.....Hip hop was great today! Lots of fun, and for once I didn't get lost on the moves. soo proud of myself. =)

Foundations cell: went to my first foundations cell today with rosanne. I think its going to be a great cell group, looking forward building up my foundation and learning so much more about God. The only thing is, I'm going to miss going to women's cell this year....and I WAS looking forward to meeting up with girlz and getting to know everyone on a deeper level. I feel that I'm going to miss out in a way, but at the same time I know that foundations is just as good.. dunno, why, just conflicted feelings.

Praise the Lord!

well, today has been a great day. I got my tb skin test done and I since I don't have TB i'm ready to volunteer at the Children's Centre here in London. Things are working out just fine, and yes...the door isn't closing. =) The rest of my day simply demonstrates to me that God is truly moving. If I ever doubted for a sec that he wasn't able to do amazing things, well today proved beyond anything that God is ABLE.

It turns out that my friend IS interested in going to Foundations cell. All day before class, I was wondering if she would come..and when I heard her answer I was just blown away. She really wants to go, but the only thing preventing her was the lack of anyone to go with. Which isn't a problem at all, since I'll go with her.... Also found out today that my friend Kev has accepted the Lord and does believe. I can't even put to words the happiness that I feel for him!! I didn't cry though, but ooh..soo happy

Cool thing of the day: was commenting to doreen, that since I would be going to foundations I wouldn't get to show our old tc captain dorothy *who happens to go to uwo now* our team pics. Within 5 min of saying that , Dorothy actually walks into our house...since she thought women's cell was at our house 2nite. hehe, isn't that cool?

finally! some rest

After 2 weeks of midterms i'm finally finished well, that is, until my next one on nov 2nd. I haven't even started reading material for that course!! ahh!! so..that's what i "attempted" to do yesterday, tried to catch up 4 weeks of child pscyh work. Hopefully the rest of the day, will go well..since I only have my one 3 hour linguistic class. Until then..

close door, open door

You know the question that you get every time you were applying for university when you were back in OAC? "What do you want to do as a career?", or"What are you planning on studying?"
Well, it seems the years have passed and now I am in my third year. Although I must admit I have a sense of where i'm going ie. finish off my health sci degree with a minor in linguistics and then apply for speech language pathology , there is that lingering thought in the back of my mind of the "what if". What if I I can't get in? what if this or that? Well, these questions were long recessed into my mind until this past wednesday when they resurfaced and rehearsed itself like a bad nightmare.

I wasn't feeling well already due to the weather. and.. Perhaps it was due to this condition which resulted in a sudden delusion of which I began to have a mini panic attack about my life "plan". It all started when I decided to not go to sleep but stay up and just y'know check something up about speech path. For the next hour I began to search page after page of all the schools that offered speech path in canada.. UT, Western, McGill, UBC, UA and of all things I even looked up Dalhousie!

as I attempted to go to sleep my mind kept going and going but I will spare you from the reading of all these thoughts and just mention one to you.. I realized that I
haven't done my 14 hours of volunteering that was required in order to apply for speech. True, I've done tons of volunteering but not under a registered and certified speech language pathologist.

I thought to myself, this was like conversation turned reality from the one I had on the drive up to London. What if God desires for you to do something else...something other than speech path?.

It was my moment of weakness. Inability to trust God, the story of many of our lives. Jer. 29:11 declares that He will provide for us. Sadly, somehow or other we all get so caught up with what WE can do with our OWN strength that we start to experience tunnel vision.

and now..upon reflection. As hard as it will be to let go, if God chooses to close the door, He will always open another one, a better door. One embossed with your name upon it, inviting us through.

Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving weekend
Well, I would have to say that this weekend has proven to be one jam packed weekend of not turkey, but instead lots and lots of studying! There were some highlights to the weekend though:

  • Arrived in toronto at 11 am friday and had to chance to meet up and "tour" amy's apartment. It really is a beautiful residence *woodsworth college* and amies, I'm sorry for waking you up from your nap i hope you feel better!
  • spent some quality brother-sister time with my brother since we were going to buy my b-day gift at MEC...they didn't have my size though for the vest I wanted and I will now have to wait 2 to 3 more weeks! Ooh, but I had soo much food for a "snack". we went to this place on queens street, which sold take out tempura boxes for $5. It was soo good! I also bumped into ada *who went to uwo,but graduated last year*
  • Saturday: was cheryl's b-day lunch. Despite the 'complications' that arose before hand, we managed to make it to milestones and had a great brunch. Cheryl not only got a complimentary cake of her choice but strawberries to accompany her brunch! =) what great service!..plus our server was great!
  • sat and sunday have just passed by in a blur of studying for my health promo and linguistic midterm...

and currently, I'm still in Toronto, waiting for my ride back to London. I've studied all day again, so my head feels like its spinning round and round. I was soo tired from studying that earlier when I went to shoppers I accidentally even signed my copy of the receipt! eek...i wonder what she thought!

the beginning

It seems as if I've finally succumbed to the entire notion of writing down my thoughts for the world to see. For one thing, I'm not entirely sure how often I will blog or if after this I ever will. This blog is a home for just the random things that I think about, you may be astounded by it, saddened, just plain bored with what i have to say. no worries, though, I won't ever judge you..just don't judge me for what i have in this head of mine.

so with that..lets begin.

today, I started swimming again. I'm actually quite surprised at how much endurance i still have despite the fact that I don't swim as much like i used to...back when i used to swim competively. ...Hm..an interesting event occured today. Perhaps, not so interesting to the person/stranger it happend to, however. I guess, oftentimes in this world as a Christian, one has to truly guard against words or actions that they are so tempted by Satan to do. At lunch today..a friend and I found a table , but there happened to be someone's stuff there. I guess we sat down anyways, since there was no person to be found and there were still 3 seats available. Anywyaz..to make a long story short, after a while she came back and it happened that I had my backpack on the seat beside me...where she wanted to put hers. Well, thats all fine..'cuz my roomate hadn't arrived yet and nor had my other friend who went to heat up his lunch. So, there I was, reading away...when my roomate comes back with her lunch..BUT the other girl wouldn't let her sit down, since her backpack was "sitting there".

So, at this point in time, I did have the smallest sense of annoyance rising up. Oh, it was soo hard not to just lash out at her, and accuse her of taking up seats. 'cuz, if you flip it around, what if I was in her shoes. It was almost like we invaded her space.. hm.so any lesson learned you may ask? Yes, I think so. once has to be a bit more sensitive to those around us, or else how will you be able to witness to those around you..if such a simple thing ticks you off.

Other than that, the rest of the day has gone quite well. Walked home from school and it was a glorious day. The trees are ever so pretty with their fading colours, although hinting upon the fact that winter will be soon upon us!
