The Oxford Way

This weekend I learned something really interesting about , well all things "Commas"! It's actually really nifty and cool. Well, let's see you know how they always say you should put a comma before the word "and" and in fact it is the standard Oxford rule. Why is that you ask? Well, let's have a quick grammar lesson and look at the following sentence:

I would like to thank my parents, Shakespeare and God.

Can you see the problem? haha :)

On another note my cousin reminded me of this other wonderful yet ingenious proof. yes, it does poke fun at all females in fact but it's a good proof..though NOT true!!

Hypothesis = Girls = Evil
∵Girls = Meaning X Money
And we know that Time is Money (Time = Money)
Girls = Money X Money or Money²

∵ Money is the root of all evil (√evil = Money) / Girls = (√evil)2

It can be concluded that Girls = Evil

and on one last random note, I added a chatterbox. Don't think it's of any use really but I just wanted to add something different to my page.

post-retreat thoughts

Well, seeing that this weekend marked my very last ACF retreat the thoughts & experiences that I take away from it are anything but mediocore. Going into retreat, I have to be honest that I didn't have many expectations. Just prior to leaving for Retreat though, a friend of mine reminded me that if I truely wanted to see God work in my life , I needed to Seek God First. These words was exactly what I needed to hear. In the end, it boils down to all this head knowledge that I have, but knowing all of these things will be nothing if I don't put my faith into action. I do truely want to seek God first, but at times there are so many other things that just end up bogging me down.

What truely touched me was the fact that so many awesome things are happening among the people at ACF. Even as a small group leader, it may be true that I am the small group leader but in the end I'm only there to facilitate and lead them, as I'm constantly learning from them as well. It's awesome to see how blessed ACF is and how everyone in ACF has a role to play even when they don't think they do. Some in front, some behind the scenes, some forming friendships..

Applications..

Maybe I'm just way too tired and stressed and worried about getting these rather important, yet silly application packages to their correct destinations. Well, the good thing is despite all the trials I've gone through, the very awful mistakes I've made, my application process is now done and over with, for the Canadian schools that is. Now, I have to periodically check to makes sure all my reference letters and packages actually get to their destination. *sigh* I guess the most expensive mistake I've made thus far is my application to McGill.. haha, ask me about it but no worries it's all fixed now. AND I'm still waiting to see if the canada post can find envelope I sent to ORPAS. It's somewhere in Guelph, but there is no real confirmation it got to OUAC. argh. So frustrating!! Oh well, things will work out in the end.

Plus, it's true. If I get into one of these schools I know that it will be all GOD's doing. If God desires for me to go through this door then I will do so. Interestingly enough, while reading Charles Spurgeon today, I happened across a quote that speaks right to me:

The covenant which the Lord made with Noah stands fast, and we have no doubts about it. Why, then, should we think that the clouds of' trouble, which now darken our sky, will end in our destruction? Let us dismiss such groundless and dishonoring fears.

That puts it right into perspective huh? Why the doubt? The sky isn't darkening, and "Until the waters go over the earth again, we shall have no reason for doubting our God."

Time's a ticking...

It's over, the precious time away from school is finished, over and done with. Tomorrow I head back to good old London to finish up my last semester. It's quite scary how fast it's gone by, but at the same time I relish the blessings, and experiences I've had over the past couple of years. This Christmas was definitely a different one. With my parents in HK I became the "man" of the household, and somehow managed to keep our house intact and manage to keep our fridge well stocked so my brother and my cousin Janet didn't starve from lack of food. I also manged to rack up a good $50 on grocerries for the past 2 weeks. But that's okay, it was well worth it! Having my cousin here for Christmas was great since it felt a lot homier to have someone there to go shopping, watch movies, coffee and share random moments with. If my Christmas had just been me and my grad school applications I would surely have gone insane. Boxing day shopping was quite fun, since my cousin and I went to Vaughn mills..in fact that day everything went very well in terms of parking. I found a parking spot in 5 min flat! Watched a few movies this Christmas: Chronicles of Narnia, Pride & Prejudice and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Coffeegurls sleepover was awesome too! I got a carebear! :) hehe, and an awesome handknit scarf and my favourite drink mixer..the lychee soho.

New years eve this year was also very memorable, from the chinese-style family dinner we had complete with the rotating server, to the Apples to Apples card game and the absolutely yummy Sparking wine/Champagne I got for the beginning of 2006.
